The Lancet – Evidence to Impact Awards

Health systems around the world are navigating increasingly complex challenges, from the growing burden of non-communicable diseases to persistent infectious diseases, malnutrition, and inequitable access to care. While research continues to generate valuable insights, translating that evidence into practical, scalable solutions remains a critical gap.
The Lancet–Elsevier Foundation Evidence to Impact Awards were established to address this challenge by supporting initiatives that move beyond knowledge generation to real-world application. With a focus on implementation science, the awards recognize and elevate efforts that transform evidence into contextually relevant, sustainable health solutions—particularly in settings where the need is greatest.
At the heart of this initiative is a belief that meaningful and lasting health improvements are achieved through collaboration. By bringing together diverse stakeholders across research, policy, and practice, the awards foster approaches that are grounded in local realities and designed for long-term impact.
What we do
The Evidence to Impact Awards support projects that focus on the practical implementation of health interventions. This includes initiatives that study how evidence-based approaches can be effectively delivered, as well as those actively working to embed proven solutions into health systems.
Projects are expected to reflect core principles of implementation science, emphasizing not only what works, but how and why it works in specific contexts. This includes attention to sustainability, adaptability, and alignment with local health priorities and policies.
A strong emphasis is placed on inclusive collaboration. Supported initiatives engage a broad range of stakeholders—from researchers and clinicians to policymakers and community members—ensuring that solutions are co-developed and responsive to the needs of the populations they serve.
How we deliver
The awards are designed to identify and amplify projects that demonstrate a clear pathway from evidence to impact. Through a structured application and review process, initiatives are assessed on their scientific rigor, contextual relevance, and potential to drive sustainable change.
Selected projects reflect a commitment to partnership and local engagement, with meaningful involvement of communities throughout the design, implementation, and evaluation phases. This approach helps ensure that interventions are not only effective, but also accepted, feasible, and resilient within their specific settings.
By aligning with global priorities such as the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to health and partnerships, the awards contribute to broader efforts to strengthen health systems and advance equity.
