Dr. Magaly Blas honored for her contributions to Global Health

We are pleased to share that Dr. Magaly Blas, OWSD-Elsevier Foundation Award alumna, has been recently recognized by two prestigious prizes. Dr. Blas is the Founder and Director of Mamás del Río,  a social innovation project that strengthens maternal and child care in rural communities in the Peruvian Amazon through community work and digital technologies. She is also associate professor at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH), Peru, and an affiliate associate professor in the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington, United States.

In January 2026, Dr. Blas received the “Premio Nacional de Ciencia” from the National Council of Science, Technology and Innovation (Concytec Perú). And in May, she was celebrated with the Dr. Thomas Hall-Dr. Nelson Sewankambo Mid-Career Leadership Award.

In 2025, Dr. Blas was also honored with the James Carol Hovey Eisenhower Fellowships Impact Award Award.
