Prof. Halima Twabi receives Fellowship Catalyst Award from the Discovery Research Support Hub

Congratulations to Associate Professor Halima Sumayya Twabi, a 2025 OWSD–Elsevier Foundation Award winner, on being named a Fellowship Catalyst Awardee by Malawi’s Discovery Research Support Hub (DRSH).

The Fellowship Catalyst Award provides up to £85,000 to high-potential researchers who are preparing a specific fellowship application or have been shortlisted for a fellowship scheme. Running over 12 to 18 months, it gives awardees protected research time alongside mentorship, training and peer review aligned to their target scheme’s submission timeline. DRSH is based at the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Research Programme and supports Malawian researchers through seed grants, grant-writing retreats and fellowship preparation.

Dr Twabi is an Associate Professor at the University of Malawi (UNIMA). Her Fellowship Catalyst research examines the mental health toll of climate disasters, developing a predictive model for post-disaster mental health outcomes using Cyclone Freddy in Blantyre as a case study. She received an OWSD–Elsevier Foundation Award in 2025 for her contributions to inclusive health research.

We are proud to see her research supported at this next stage, and look forward to following her future progress!
