AMHERST – Maria Santore has seen what happens to women scientists and engineers who can’t travel because they’re caring for young children.
They become less competitive.
“You really see them drop out of visibility,” said Santore, a professor of polymer science and engineering at the University of Massachusetts.
But a new three-year, $97,500 grant from the Elsevier Foundation’s New Scholars Program may help address the problem.
